Your Family Team is your Best Asset

With family businesses I’ve seen what works & what doesn’t.

I’ve seen family businesses grow from start-ups to substantial long-term concerns. I’ve also seen a few fall well short of the hopes and dreams they inspired. The one constant I’ve noted is this: a family that doesn’t act like a team risks crumbling under the weight of its own divisions and disputes.

In my experience, most family problems are pretty easily solved over a dinner or a beer. But as a business grows and people move into new, more complex phases of life, decision making also becomes more complex. That’s why you need tight, robust decision-making processes and structures, or you risk misunderstandings, conflicts, fallings-out or even worse.
None of this is good for family business.

As you know, all family businesses are unique…

Unlike any other type of business structure, a lot of family members join “on the tools” before progressing up the ladder to fill a need or a management gap. This can often see people put into roles that might not naturally suit them. With my extensive family business experience, I’ll help you put the right family members in the right roles. Roles that best suit them and best suit the family business. And for those entering a new role, our coaching and development programs are designed to set them up for success.

Family meetings

Successful, productive family meetings are the key to ongoing success.

We’ll provide your family with a structure and guidance on how to get the best outcomes and we can also be there to facilitate if you want us to. We’ll also ensure your meetings are:

  • business-focused
  • rich with information sharing
  • well planned
  • decisive
  • educational.

And all this while retaining your family’s unique character and way of communicating!
